Rev. Robyn comes to us from Howard University, where she has been Anglican/Episcopal Chaplain and Lutheran Campus Pastor since 2003. Her academic background includes study at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and University of Massachusetts, Boston. She earned her Master of Divinity at the Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge, MA. She is married to Mr. Raymond Franklin-Vaughn, who teaches Tai Chi and Qi Gong, is a Licensed Massage Therapist and Teachers Assistant at the Potomac Massage Training Institute in Silver Spring. MD. Many of you met Raymond when Rev. Robyn acted as supply priest to us.
Prior to her going to Howard University, Rev. Robyn served as Chaplain, Director of Multi-Cultural and Spiritual Life, and Director of Multi-Cultural and Co-curricular Programs at Pine Manor College. She was Deacon at Trinity Episcopal Church, Randolph, MA; Diocesan Intern at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Bedford, MA; Chaplain Intern at St. Mark’s School, Southborough, MA; Chaplain Intern at the Suffolk County House of Corrections, Boston, MA; and Chaplain Intern at the Church of the United Community/Community Outreach of Color, Roxbury, MA.
During her time as Chaplain at Howard, Rev. Robyn provided pastoral care to students, staff and faculty with particular care and focus on the undergraduate population, the Howard University School of Divinity, and the Howard University College of Medicine. Among many other activities, she served as mentor and Field Education Supervisor for seminarians from the Virginia Theological Seminary, provided discernment opportunities for the Howard University Community, and offered silent retreats for the Howard Community, Diocesan and Synod campus ministries. She has served as both occasional and long-term supply for many churches throughout the diocese, including our own parish. She has also served in multiple capacities for the Diocese of Washington. She has expressed to us her specific interests in strong community outreach, ministry to our parish youth, Christian education, and a vibrant music program during worship.
